About The Tampa Tour

The Tampa Tour, otherwise known as 3T, is an amateur golf league based in the Tampa Bay Area. The tour caters to younger professionals looking for a group of like-minded guys who want an outlet for friendly competition. Friendships naturally develop along the way, as the group focuses equally on camaraderie and competition. The Tour is not affiliated with any particular course. We play different courses throughout central Florida, primarily in the Tampa Bay Area. This includes courses in Orlando and Sarasota/Bradenton. One of the biggest goals of our tour is offering this at affordable prices. There are other golf leagues in the area but none of them will provide the quality of courses at the same prices we do. We are taking applications for new members but please keep in mind our target demographic is between 25 and 45. That doesn't mean someone must fall into this range but it does give you an idea of the makeup of the tour.

The Tampa Tour is run by a director with the help of an Executive Committee. The director and committee do compete in the events but their services are completely voluntary. We utilize USGA handicapping to make each event competitive for all who play. There are prize rewards to those who win as well as those who maintain a level of success over the course of a season through a points based system. Here are some key points about the 3T.

  • The season typically runs from March to Sept. with 2-3 events per month.
  • We have a Tampa cup (team format) and an Invitational at the end of the season for people who qualify. Qualifying is based on the accumulation of total season points.
  • Handicaps range from .5 to 35. Talent is not as important as maintaining pace of play on The Tampa Tour.
  • Handicaps are tracked by myscorecard. There are no exceptions to this. If you’re a member of another club you will still be required to utilize myscorecard. Currently they charge $10 per year.
  • To be invited to our myscorecard group you must be an active participating member of The Tampa Tour
  • Yearly membership for the tour is $20, due by your 2nd event. This pays for the website, necessary materials, end of year get-together, and prizes.
  • For new participants, you cannot win any money regardless of how you finish until your 4th event. You will however accumulate points. This is a fairly standard rule for most amateur tours/leagues.
  • Cost for events is our best negotiated rate with the course plus $15 to the league pot. The $15 is completely paid back to the winners, league champion, and invitational champion. Examples: Heritage Harbor in March is $35 to the course and then $15 to the tour. Copperhead at Innisbrook in June is $75 to the course and again $15 to the league. We pay out to the 1 st and 2 nd place winners of a flight A & B which is always cut right down the middle of the number of players according to their handicap. We usually have 20-32 players per event.
  • A skins game is available for $10 at each event.  The skins is completely gross and only birdies or better have a chance to win skins.
  • The schedule is posted well in advance
  • Signing up for an event and not showing up without advance notice will result in the course fee being paid to the tour. Until this condition is met you will not be allowed to participate in future events. In this scenario the fees would be paid out to the league winners at the end of the year. Exceptions will be handled by the committee on a case-by-case basis.
